Definition of Link

A link is a connection to a page from another page.  When viewing a web page, the link just looks either like a word, or words that are underlined or you may be instructed to click on a picture or something that looks like a push button. When the link is clicked on, the browser loads the linked page.  On some pages the link is to another section of the same page.
A link from page 1 to page 2.

Link from page 1 to 2 and from 2 to 1.
When  making a website topology or map, a link from one page to another looks like a line with an arrowhead on it.  If there is a link from one page to a second page and another link back from the second page to the first, the two links are represented by a line with an arrow on both ends.  This is called a bi-directional link.  But remember, it is actually two links.

The links, create a chain of pages.
