Tables

Although you could have a picture of a table on your web page, the table I am talking about is like the one pictured below, with rows and columns of cells. Originally, the table was used to display data so that it could be referenced more easily. But on a web page it is also used to line up and correctly position page elements. For example, this text is in a two cell table. The table on the right is in the other cell of this table. I have all the borders turned off so all you can see is the text and the picture.

A Table, as defined in Merriam Webster's Ninth Collegiate Dictionary, is: A systematic arrangement of data, usually in rows and columns for ready reference. Here is an example of a web page table:

This is a table and as I explained above, it has many uses on web pages. I use tables on just about every web page I design.
